Amid times of change, chaos, and uncertain futures, we believe that children need to be given the opportunity to know, love, and serve Jesus for a lifetime. Caring adults lead children, ages 2 through 12, in fun Bible lessons and memorization that helps them develop socially, relationally, and spiritually.
Our Brotherhood is one of the outreach arms of the church with a focus on service to others. One week they might be fixing breakfast for the whole church or cooking for a church-wide luncheon. The next week they may be mowing a widow’s lawn or fixing a broken refrigerator. As “iron sharpens iron,” these men meet together to encourage each other and to grow in their relationship with the Lord.
Our children’s church serves both preschool and elementary-age children. The purpose of children’s church is to enable children to associate pleasant experiences with church, to provide a teaching environment for our children, and to build Christian principles and foundations in their young lives.
If you like to sing, the choir is for you. We practice once a week and are instrumental in leading the traditional singing in the worship service. In addition, the choir presents two cantatas each year – one at Easter and one at Christmas.
The mission of our church through the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Throughout the year our members contribute items and in the fall we get together to fill shoeboxes with the donated items. We believe this is one way we can spread the love and good news of Jesus Christ to children, both the ones who buy and pack the items and the ones who receive the boxes.
Like the choir, our praise team practices once a week and on Sunday mornings leads the congregation in more contemporary singing. The praise team is open to anyone from middle school age on up.
Sunday school provides a structure for teaching God’s Word to a specific age group. That means that a wiggly four-year-old can discover great biblical truth by hearing a lesson that’s appropriate to their age level and, during the same hour, everyone else will also study an age-appropriate lesson to help them in a more personal way come to know the Bible and how they can relate it to their own lives. There is a Sunday school class for everyone at Blake Baptist Church.
Our Woman’s Missionary Union assists our church in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy so that we can fulfill our mission to reach the world for Christ. Through fund raisers and offerings, the ladies give monthly contributions to purchase Bibles, to Samaritan’s Purse, and to CBN’s Operation Blessing. In addition, they have special projects; such as providing food for a local food pantry, Christmas gifts for underprivileged children, and a monthly fellowship luncheon.
Blake Baptist Church supports a vibrant Youth Ministry committed to the spiritual formation of our youth. Weekly gospel-centered sessions as well as many other fun and educational activities and programs are offered for our middle and high schoolers to help them build strong, personal relationships with Jesus Christ. The goal is to help them become fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, know and trust God, and learn how to articulate their faith to others through their words and actions.
Our youth leaders provide Bible-based spiritual guidance through Bible study, opportunities for fellowship, and activities that promote bonding with each other. Throughout the year, the youth have opportunities to participate in summer camp, lock-ins, fellowship events, and many other fun activities.
